0.9m Telescope Control System Information

This page gives details about the new Telescope Control System (TCS)
at the 0.9m, which was installed in April 2005 by DFM.

02 APR 2005	last night of old TCS at 0.9m

25 APR 2005	first night of new TCS at 0.9m

GENERAL CAPABILITIES
_______________________________________________________________________

1. pointing now good to approximately 20"

2. minimal or no guiding required for exposures up to 5 minutes

3. the slew is much faster than for the previous TCS

PROBLEMS
_______________________________________________________________________

The new TCS does not talk successfully with ARCON, which causes the
IRAF headers to have missing/incorrect information that should come
from the TCS.  The following fields cannot be trusted in the IRAF
headers:

	RA	  several arcmin off
	DEC       several arcmin off
	EPOCH     total garbage
	ZD        0.0
	HA        incorrect
	ST        incorrect
	AIRMASS   total garbage
