Minutes for Organizational Meeting, September 3, 2002

• officer nominations
  * nominations are due in two weeks
  * provide us with your name, the position you're running for, and a brief statement of your qualifications and why you are running
  * voting will take place at the October meeting
  * absentee ballots will be accepted one week before the meeting
  
  
• budget and dues
  *the Astronomy Club received $250 for their budget this year
  * we asked for $726, so more events will have to be out of pocket
  * there is a mandatory $15 per semester in dues will be due at the October meeting
  
  
• Sky and Telescope magazine subscription is available to all members at a reduced rate of $29.95 per year. This is $10 less than the normal price! If you're interested, give the treasurer a check (made out to Sky Publishing Coorporations) and a mailing address.

  * Solar Observing @ GSU, 2nd week of every month (the first clear day starting Monday and ending Friday)
  * Nighttime observing @ GSU, 3rd week of every month (the first clear night starting Monday and ending Friday)
  * IMAX movie: Space Station 3-D, Mall of GA - tentative for 9/14

  * solar and nighttime observing in Woodruff Park and the Village
  * go see a shuttle launch even though we'd have to pay out of pocket
