Assignment 4

Worth 25 points

First, list how long a day and a year are on the rocky planets of Mercury, Venus and Mars (the table in the back of the book can help).

Then, write a story about what ONE day would be like on ONE of those three planets. Use the length of the day on the planet, not an Earth day… Remember that a day includes both daytime and nighttime!

You must include information about:

- what the climate is like [weather, sunlight (duration and intensity), temperature]

- who/what YOU are (therefore how you are surviving in the climate)

- what the surface would look like

- what it is like to be ON the planet (how do you move, the surface gravity)

- what you might see in the sky (especially as compared to what you would see in Earth’s sky)

- anything else you feel would be pertinent :)

The table in the back of the book can help you determine some of the basic properties of your chosen planet. Also, the specific chapters about each planet can be quite helpful.

Creativity makes me happy :)

As with the other assignments,

· Make sure to include a list of all the sources you used (books, websites, magazines) (points will be deducted without them).

· Please USE YOUR OWN WORDS (I will be checking very closely!!) (any cheating/plagiarism I find gets a zero and action taken against the author).

· Everyone is going to start with 22 out of 25 points and you have to earn those last 3 points through good writing and insight.
