Portfolio
Assignment
DUE
Worth 30 points
This is to be a culmination of the
assignments and things that you have had over the course of the semester – it
is a showcase. It is also to show that
you have learned something about astronomical stuff over the course of the
semester.
You need to include 5 things in this
portfolio:
- your work that you feel is your best
- your work that you feel is the most interesting
- your work that you feel is the most disappointing (either in grade or in learning)
- your work that you feel needs
the most improvement (and
how it can be improved)
- your work that is your favorite
Each of these things needs to have a
justification for why you are including it.
Each justification needs to be at least a half page long (typed,
no more than 1.5 spacing and font of 12 point or less (unless it’s naturally a
little but cool font) – no big fonts either – don’t make me have a preconceived
notion about the quality of your justification J).
Things to include in your justification
could be statements about how much or how little you learned by doing the thing,
what you really liked about the thing, what you disliked (and how it might be
improved), things you wish you would have said, good insights you think you
made, stuff like that…
You can draw from:
- homework
assignments -
labs
- in-class activities (Lecture Tutorials
or other) - tests
Some works could be the same,
they each need a separate justification though.
You don’t have to include the original
graded version of it, although that would be nice.
You will be graded as follows:
Inclusion
and appropriate-ness of the 5 works 5
points
Justification
of BEST 4

Justification
of MOST INTERESTING 4

In grading each

put your ideas across on paper.
