I've seen lots of interesting things since I've been here in Atlanta, but I haven't taken pictures of them all. Here are some.
My roomies!!!
From the left, that is me (obviously), then Angela (a 3rd year grad from Maryland) and Ginny (a 4th year grad from Georgia)
This was at our housewarming party the weekend after I moved down (Aug 2002)
There are now 2 cats among the 3 of us (picture coming shortly) - Ginny has Stormy, a pure white (and very non-lap) cat and Angela has Haley, a tabby-on-white kitten.
A bunch of my fellow grad students. Aren't we attractive? :)
There's me, Dave, Angela, Rajesh, John Marshall (low) and John Subasavage (high).
Some people obviously weren't quite in the spirit of things... (Aug 2002)
One of the very nice things we have here in Atlanta is a botanical garden. Here are a couple the photos from there.
First is the Orchid House (an extensive collection!), then me with one of the many frogs spread throughout the grounds, then me with the little gnomes :) They were very cute.
The Vortex Bar and Grill
They have the best burgers in town and this one is located in the very eclectic and eccentric area of Little Five Points :) Great fun!
One of the mottos of The Vortex is 'Stupidity should be painful...'
Oh, and those girls wouldn't get out of the way...

Hard Labor Creek Observatory
This is GSU's little observatory - this is where a bunch of we grad students got together, barbequed and generally raised a ruckus on the peak night of the Perseid meteor shower. Although, we nerdily raised that ruckus - we talked loudly of Messier objects and cool stuff in the telescopes :)
Then we did it again at the Department picnic!
And again with the Leonid meteor shower!
One aforementioned ruckus at HLCO was the Department picnic. Some upper-level graduate students decided to do a little skit that poked fun at some of the professors and people around the department. Here they are:
From the left: Alvin (playing himself and also Dr. Bill Bagnoulo - very well I might add), Wei-Chun (playing Stuart), Rajesh (playing Dr. Paul Wiita), John McFarland (playing Dr. Dick Miller), Kevin (playing Dr. Doug Gies - a Canadian), Ginny (playing Debra - Miss Wolf-Rayet) and Dave (playing Dr. Todd Henry).
It was absolutely hilarious.
