FN-CL-IXa Light Cruiser

This is one of the largest ships currently commissioned by the Hive Federation that leaves Federation Space. The Large CRs and the few BBs are used for defense of the central areas of the Federation against vampires and hostile incursions. Displacing almost 40,000 tons of liquid hydrogen, the Hivers have not given a formal name to the design, which is a post collapse design. The precollapse ship which filled the role was heavily automated and were easy prey for Virus infection. This ship is usually one of the central ships in convoys sent to the Reformation Coalition (though they do not enter Coalition Space themselves. All ships larger than the Hiver Tender (5000dt) have standing orders during convoys to wait for the return trip at the so called Stepping Stone Worlds), usually singly, but sometimes in twos or threes. 20 Ithklur Marines act as ships troops and 2 Federation Dignitaries can be accomidated.

Power requirements necessitate the shutdown of the CG Lifters to power the NPAW at its full ROF, otherwise only a ROF of 10 is possible. Each Light Cruiser typically carries two modified F'naah Class Heavy Fighters, unofficially designated Lu*ern Fighters. They carry a ROF 200 600Mj non-Grav-focused Xray Laser lance and act as a point defense/missle attack platform for the cruiser. Precollapse Federation capital ships used an unmanned, automated platform, but that proved especially Virus prone and was replaced by a makeshift modification of Ithklur Fighter.
