The primary objective of this assignment which will count for your last 4 lab grades is to better prepare you to teach some fundamental concepts of Astronomy to your students. You are asked to prepare a "unit" (2 weeks) of classroom material on some aspect of Astr1010 that is of interest to you. You will pick a topic that is covered in this course, for example the planets, telescopes, prominent historical astronomers, etc. If you have a topic not explicitly covered in the book but relevant to the course, please run it by me, there's plenty of interesting stuff out there. Your presentation of material should include the following: 1) Identification of the grade level your lesson plans are geared to. 2) A detailed set of lesson plans showing your overall objectives, what is going to be taught, and the time blocks for each activity. 3) A summary of internet sites and/or other sources of information that can be of use to you when you present this material to your. Give references and/or URLs. 4) A set of sample activities and discussions that you plan for your students. These activities should be original; not some professionally prepared material that might be available to you. Provide a minimum of 5 activities. 5) Sample evaluation material that you plan to use for your students. This evaluation material should likewise be original.
