Astronomy Picture of the Day

Astronomy Picture of the Day offers a brand new exciting pretty astronomy picture every day!

Bad Astronomy

Bad Astronomy by Phil Plait. Phil (and others) debunk many common misconceptions and point out the horrible astronomy often seen in modern movies and television (like the grass on the asteroid in Armageddon). He also wrote a book.

SETI

SETI at home allows your computer to search for extra-terrestrial intelligence when your computer goes into a screen saver.

Links to Atlanta Area Observatories

Fernbank

Fernbank Science Center is open most clear Thursdays and Fridays to the public; the observatory is free of charge, a planetarium show is available for a small fee.

Hard Labor Creek Observatory is in Rutledge, GA and is operated by Georgia State University. We offer free public open houses eight times a year (once a month between March and October). This could be one of the best observing sites east of the Mississippi River.

Links to Atlanta weather

The Clear Sky Clock is a weather predictor for astronomical observing. It is great once you understand how to read it.

I like to use the forecast from the National Weather Service.
