CCD FULL 13'x13'armin READOUT: QUAD GAIN INDEX: 2: Read Noise ~ 2.5 ADU = 3.5 e- FILTER SET: UBVRI (only R required) 6606-75 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTES FOR TARGET FIELDS ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. A start time of ~2:00 and end time of 5:36 (ast. twilight) are assumed. Please take standards after astronomical twilight in morning if necessary to complete program. 2. Check focus using first standard star field, then check after each exposure and adjust as necessary. 3. For each galaxy: a. Take 60s test exposure to confirm field with finder chart. Galaxies are faint, so may not show up. b. Take requested exposures in R, shifting field slightly (~10") between exposures. Adjust focus as necessary c. Take requested exposures in 6606-75, shifting field slightly (10") between exposures. Adjust focus as necessary. d. Note difference in number of exposures requested for first and second galaxy target. (First galaxy is split over two nights, so requires fewer exposures per night.) 4. Photometric weather is highly preferred, but non-photometric observations may be used. In case of non-photometric conditions, please add an additional R exposure of as many galaxies as possible to replace time allocated for standards. Note: All coordinates J2000.0 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTES FOR CALIBRATION FIELDS ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Please take 10 biases. Check gain setting. 2. Please take DOME (10 per filter) AND SKY (at least 3 per filter) flats in both R and 6606-75. Make sure flats are well-exposed. (~30,000 - 50,000 counts) IF PHOTOMETRIC: 3. Observe at least 2 Landolt standard fields, as listed. The ones at the end may be done in astronomical twilight. Check to make sure standard stars are not saturated. 4. Observe spectrophotometric standard stars 2x in EACH filter per night - please check that star does not saturate. DO NOT OBSERVE STANDARDS IF NON-PHOTOMETRIC - INSTEAD ADD AN EXTRA R EXPOSURE TO AS MANY GALAXIES AS POSSIBLE ----------------------------------------------------------------------- OBSERVING SEQUENCE ----------------------------------------------------------------------- FIELD Landolot Standard RU 149 PRIORITY 1 (only if photometric) COORDINATES 07 24 14 -00 31 58 FINDER CHART http://minerva.union.edu/koopmanr/ru149.html AIRMASS ~1.2 FILTER(S) R INTEGRATION(S) 35 TOTAL TIME 1.5 minutes NOTES requires photometric conditions TARGET LTT 2415 PRIORITY 1 (only if photometric) COORDINATES 05 56 24.30 -27 51 28.8 FINDER CHART http://minerva.union.edu/koopmanr/ltt2415.html AIRMASS 1.1 (+/- 0.2) FILTER(S) R, 6600-75 INTEGRATION(S) 15, 200 TOTAL TIME 5 minutes NOTES requires photometric conditions TARGET AGC 191702 PRIORITY 2 COORDINATES 09 08 36.5 +05 17 32 FINDER CHART http://minerva.union.edu/koopmanr/a191702.html AIRMASS 1.1 - 1.6 FILTER(S) R, 6606-75 INTEGRATION(S) R: 60s test, 2 x 150s; 6606-75: 2 x 1500s TOTAL TIME 1h NOTES photometric conditions preferred, mildly non-photometric OK; shift fields about 10 arcsec between exposures.
