MORE THAN TWO OBSERVERS AT ONE TELESCOPE?
_________________________________________________________________________________________

CTIO policy is that no more than two observers are permitted at a telescope. If there is
a critical need to have more than two people at a telescope, you must get the Director's
approval. You must email the Director's Office (Ximena Herreros at
xherreros@ctio.noao.edu), and she will assist you in getting permission for additional
observers.

 PACKING LIST
_________________________________________________________________________________________

Laundry facilities are available on the mountain, so you will be able to do laundry if
needed. This can cut down on how much you have to pack. Other than the usual travel
gear, crucial items you should prepare to bring:

     passport
     e-ticket receipts for flights
$125 (as of 7/07) to enter Chile if you haven't entered on your current passport
     extra cash for buying gifts
     flashlight
lip balm and lotion (humidity can drop to 10%)
     observing list(s)
     camera

PAYMENT FOR RESOURCES USED IN CHILE
_________________________________________________________________________________________

It is most convenient to pay your bill at the Round Office Building (ROB) on the mountain
using a credit card. For GSU folks, we have an account set up that can be charged and
invoices sent to Todd Henry in the US (who will then get your bill to you if you are not
in the RECONS group).

 OBSERVING SCHEDULE CHANGES
_________________________________________________________________________________________

If for some reason you must change your SMARTS observing time, several people need to know.
If you are a GSU observer, first check with Todd Henry at GSU. For both GSU and non-GSU
observers, you MUST inform the following people via email:

bailyn@astro.yale.edu Charles Bailyn, SMARTS Director, Yale
thenry@chara.gsu.edu Todd Henry, SMARTS Representative, GSU
xherreros@ctio.noao.edu	Ximena Herreros, CTIO Administration in La Serena
   mrichter@ctio.noao.edu	Mario Richter, AOSS Finances
   awalker@ctio.noao.edu	Alistair Walker, CTIO Director
